Pasture-Raised Poultry from
The ReFarmery
Fresh and frozen chicken, turkey and goose.
A note from our founder:
The farm was born out of my desire for clean, healthy food, that cares for the plants, animals, and soils that sustain us. As I became an adult, I grew uncomfortable with how commercial livestock is raised and for many years I stopped eating most meat. It was not until the farm was able to raise more ethical livestock that I returned to my preferred omnivorous diet. From the beginning, I imagined a farm where we would care for our animals in a fashion that honors their sacrifice for us. Our broiler chickens have their first meals in the shade of the mulberry tree, where they are cared for throughout their youngest days. They enjoy plenty of corn-free, soy-free, non-GMO feed--along with grasses and fresh vegetables in a controlled environment. As they grow, they graduate to pasture, where smaller groups are rotated to fresh ground daily. Rotating the chickens provides them with fresh food, clean ground to play on, and a bit of stimulation. At The ReFarmery, we respect our chickens because they provide a priceless service. They eat the seeds and leaves of invasive grasses and pesky weeds. In addition, they deposit small amounts of manure, helping to further improve our soils for future growing. Our goal is to give these birds the best possible life, and provide the highest quality meat we can. If you ever have questions about the birds or the process we are always glad to explain our animal husbandry and why we think it is a better way.
